Edwin "Butch" Winskie

Edwin “Butch” Winskie, 79, of Ooltewah, TN passed away September 15, 2023, at his home in Ooltewah. He was surrounded by family. He was born on October 1, 1943, in Chatham County, GA to Frederick and Bertie Lee Darden Winskie. He served in the US Army. He raised his family in Atlanta, GA and worked for Delta Airlines from which he retired in 1999. His first wife Evon Moody Winskie passed in 1999. He met and married Pamela Nowlin Winskie in 2001. They lived in Cleveland, TN for 14 years before moving to Ooltewah, TN. At his death, the Winskies lived in Greenbriar Cove, a retirement community. Mr. Winskie was a lifelong Baptist. He was a member of Ringgold First Baptist. Butch loved playing golf while he was at Delta and formed some lifelong relationships. Woodworking was a favorite pastime. Two of his best friends were met through these activities. He spent time at his cabin in Crossville, TN fishing on the lake which he enjoyed. One of his passions was working with food ministries, where he volunteered consistently until he was no longer able. His family brought him great joy.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Pamela Nowlin Winskie of Ooltewah, TN; son, Michael (Della) Winskie of Maysville, NC; daughter, Cindy (Jon) Clendenen of Rossville, GA; stepson, Michael (Jenna) Nowlin of Cleveland, TN; grandsons, Jonathan (Jenna) Winskie, Austin Clendenen, Anthony (Brynna) Clendenen, Aaron Clendenen, Noble Nowlin, Harper Nowlin, and Kylan Nowlin; granddaughters, Heather Sinsley, Erica Martin, Ashley Clendenen, and Amanda Clendenen; brothers, Danny (Judy) Winskie and Wayne (Gail) Winskie; sister-in-law, Carolyn Winskie; many nieces and nephews along with three great granddaughters.

Preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Evon Moody Winskie; brothers, Johnny Winskie, Dean Winskie, Mark Winskie, Louie Winskie, and Charles “Tony” Winskie; sisters, Elouise Winskie Kilpatrick, Willow Belle Winskie Francis, Laverne Winskie Jones, and Betty Winskie Sasser; siblings-in-law, Lawrence Sasser, Joy Winskie, Norma Winskie, and others.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Christ Chapel Share & Care, 223 Inman St, Ringgold, GA 30736.

Funeral services will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Chapel on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 4:00 P.M. with Pastor Eric Kennedy officiating.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Home.
