Rev. James D. Spearman

Rev. James D. Spearman, 87, of Chattanooga graduated to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

A longtime resident of Chattanooga, Rev. Spearman has been a minister of the gospel for over 30 years and was currently pastor of Fellowship Church of Faith in East Brainerd.

A veteran of the US Air Force for 8 years, he had formerly served as manager of several cemeteries in the Chattanooga area and had owned his own construction business for many years.

He had a quick wit and loved talking with people; especially about His Lord.

He was known for his compassionate & generous heart.

Only his love for the Lord was greater than his love for others.  He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Muriel D. Spearman Sr. and Estelle Cox Spearman; brothers, Muriel D. Spearman, Jr., George Spearman and Gurney Spearman; and sisters, Alice Ford, Christine Woodard, and Murlene Mizell.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Steve) Schild, Rossville;  son, J. Dewayne (Gretchen) Spearman, Ringgold; brother, Bill (Kay) Spearman, Chattanooga;  grandchildren, Bethany Schild, Steven (Morgan) Schild, Ryan Spearman, Sasha (Evann) Freeman, Lydia (Steven) Ware, Tanner (Caroline) Marlin; several great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews; former wife, Marie Spearman and her family also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 6th at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel with his son, Rev. J. Dewayne Spearman officiating.     Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East with Evann Freeman, Tanner Marlin, Steven Ware, Steve Schild Sr., Steven Schild, and Eugene Voyles serving as pallbearers.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Eugene Voyles, his faithful friend and caregiver for the past 3 years.  He has truly been a blessing to the family.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 5th from 2-8 PM  and 1 hour before the service on Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
